Today is World Refugee Day, which gives us a chance to look at the situation of refugees around the world. According to the latest 2011 figures from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR):
- 42.5 million people were forcibly displaced due to new and persistent conflicts.
- Developing countries hosted four-fifths of the world’s refugees.
- The three countries hosting the most refugees were Pakistan, Iran and Syria.
